Conducted Farm Walks
Through the months of May
and June we offer guided walks around the farm
to schools and interested clubs and organisations.
These walks
are sponsored by Natural England and their purpose
is to get the general public onto a farm and demonstrate
how a modern farm works in
partnership with the environment.
A warm welcome awaits you at the farm
where you will be escorted on a walk around Rectory
Farm.
The walks usually last 2 - 3 hours,
are free of charge and
can be
tailored to
your groups interests whether you are an adult
group, school party or nursery group.
The Walk
We
gather in the farm yard where you will be welcomed
by Phil the farmer and Molly the sheep dog who is
always pleased to meet new people. There is a
machinery display, food chain information, farm
history and farm produce to browse around while your
group assembles. The yard provides ample room for
car parking or coaches.

Next we
set off in earnest to explore the farm, the
route takes you to the brow of the hill at the back
of the farm where spectacular views can be admired
around the Welland Valley and over the Eyebrook
Reservoir. Throughout the walk we encourage
active conversation, farming involves some
controversial topics - all of which we are willing
to discuss with you. We encourage as many
questions as possible, for you to get the most from
your visit. The walk is tailored to your
groups interest, we cover various topics including
archaeology, crop management & marketing,
environmental impact of farming, hedgerow
management, conservation and sheep rearing.
The walk concludes with a well earned cup of tea and
homemade scone in the farmyard.

For further information on farm walks
contact us
and we can discuss your requirements.
To avoid disappointment, early booking is
recommended.
If you are a school or youth group teacher packs
are available on request and we can match your
current topics in the curriculum to aspects of
farming.
